Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, a constituent institute of the University of Dhaka, is one of South Asia’s leading institutions for media and visual arts education. Since its founding in 1998, Pathshala has earned a global reputation for producing photographers, filmmakers, and media professionals who combine creativity, technical expertise, and social responsibility.
The institute’s main academic program is the BSS (Hons) in Photography, a four-year, eight-semester undergraduate degree—pioneering in the region. Pathshala also offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Film and Television, a one-and-a-half-year (three-semester) advanced program that prepares students for professional careers in film and media.

Pathshala South Asian Media Institute
This program gives the students industry-standard knowledge of Film and Television. It has a special focus on production in new media and on cost-effective productions by innovative use of technology. There is also a focus on how these skills can be used for a wider job market for candidates. Students also have access to very good camera equipment, sound and lighting equipment and other equipment needed for such productions. All labs are equipped with the latest software required for such kinds of productions.
Film and Television production is a key component of this program. Students will gain film and television production expertise (fiction, documentary, reportage). There is also a strong focus on script development and directing related to these productions and cinematography, post-production and digital workflow.
