A special film producing class was held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute for students of the Film and Television Department.

The session was led by Arifur Rahman, one of Bangladesh’s leading independent filmmakers and a graduate of the Busan Asian Film School. Arifur has participated in renowned global labs like La Fabrique Cinéma (Cannes), Locarno Open Doors, and Film Independent’s Producing Lab.

His productions, including Kingdom of Clay, Live from Dhaka, The Silent Echo, Roqeia, Amar Colony, and A House Named Shahana, have been screened at major festivals like Venice, Rotterdam, Busan, and Raindance.

Arifur has also collaborated with organizations like WHO, UNICEF, BBC Media Action, and the EU, creating impactful documentaries on climate change, public health, and gender equity. His film One in 36 Million won the Grand Prix at WHO’s Health for All Film Festival in 2023.
